sur l'un des trois timbres que constitue l'émission du
1er Juillet 1956 de l'Islande sous le thème"Festival de

Le dernier Évêque catholique Jon Arson(de Holar,l'autre Évêché de l'ile) est mort assassiné avec ses 2 fils en 1550 a Skàlholt a cause de sa lutte contre une réforme imposée par le rois Christian III de Danemark.

Depuis ces événements l'importance de Skàlholt diminua surtout depuis le transfère de l'évêché a Reykjavik(Capitale de l'Islande et lieu de réception du fameux FDC de 1956).
